On A Boat!

This weekend I got to see a good friend be installed as president of Active 20-30 Club of Santa Rosa #50.  His theme for the installation was On A Boat, an homage to the Saturday Night Live skit.  The theme was pretty open for interpretation and I was not disappointed by the outfits for the evening.  There was a mermaid, plenty of sailor girls, the Skipper and Maryanne from Gilligan's Island, plenty of guys with board shorts, floaties and sunblock, ladies ready for formal night, and the list goes on. 

Obviously, great minds think alike!

Live Fast, Die Pretty

I've been taking public transportation for the past six years to get to my job down town.  I've taken just about all forms - light rail, bus and now a commuter express bus.  I've decided to pull up a few pieces I've written over the past few years and share with you all.  This will give you better insite into my daily commuting experience. And away we go...

Thank God for public transportation. I'm saving money and the environment, conserving natural resources, and getting some cheap entertainment all in one ride!

And... Action!

There is a monthly video newsletter that goes out to all of the employees in our department and this month’s installment featured our department’s mascot.  I often help out with the mascot by either being the character actor inside of the costume or by assisting the person in the costume.  This is a large costume weighing in at about 35lbs and visibility is low for the person inside.  Most of the today was spent helping my coworker in and out of the costume (Yay, no costume hair for me).  I was aware I would be helping with the mascot today but I didn’t take into account how much work goes in to these five minute video newsletters… about four hours just on the part of the actors, that’s how much!

Lay off of my blue (toed) suede shoes!

I've been waiting to wear these shoes for a while now but hadn't quite found the right outfit.  They are so much fun!  A grey suede shoe with a blue toe?  Who wouldn't love these (and if you don't, frankly I don't really want to know). 

I like your pants!

My morning coffee buddy and I are both fans of the wide-leg trouser.  One day while I was wearing a pair, she gave me a nice compliment by telling me “I like your pants.”  But the voice she used was low toned and sort of growly… maybe a little like the Marlboro Man might sound.  It is now and an inside joke between us and when we see wide-leg trousers we are known to say “I like your pants” in the voice.

I'm a part of a department that is going through some major changes.  I'm not fond of these changes (I'm just sayin').  One thing I've noticed is that these changes are causing numerous meetings.  The group we're merging with love their meetings!
