Friend Friday - Blogger Authenticity

Authentically getting ready to watch Grey's Anatomy!
I'm participating in Friend Friday where fashion bloggers answer a series of questions related to style, fashion and blogging. Hopefully this will become a regular feature for the Clothed Commuter. And away we go...

1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?
Blogger authenticity is staying true to who you are in your everyday life and reflecting that in your pictures and product reviews.  I feel like a blog is more authentic if their fashion reflects their lifestyle and surroundings.

2. When it comes to your blog how do you infuse it with that true/ authentic feeling?
I’ve only been blogging for a month now but I think anyone can tell that I have a sense of humor and I like to poke fun at things that I see everyday.  It doesn’t make sense for me to take only serious photos or not include a goofy one now and then.  I try to do things that make me happy not take myself too seriously and hopefully my blog will continue to reflect that!

3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What made you lose interest?
I have :o(  and the main reason was that she stopped posting over four months ago and only posted sporadically during the time I followed her.  Another I stopped following because I realized that her lifestyle and sense of fashion were completely different than mine.  Frequently if I find a blog I love, I’ll start following if for a week or so to see what the blog is all about.  If it doesn’t keep my interest, I remove it – I just don’t have a ton of spare time to be looking at things that I can’t apply to my own life.

4. We can't communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don't live in real life... what are some ways you try to live an authentic
life?

I’m trying to take pictures in real places I go.  I’m trying to wear things that make sense for my commuting lifestyle.  Stilettos don’t work in my life, there are too many bus stairs, metal grates and slippery surfaces downtown – so you won’t see me wearing them.  I’ve never been one to try and impress others so I feel like living authentically come natural.

5. Give a shout-out... Which bloggers do you think are truly genuine and why?
Nina from All Tumble Down is incredible.  I love the fact that she stays true to her beliefs and values while dressing super cute!  I actually use a number of her looks as inspiration even though our beliefs are different.  She is the definition of authentic.
Desiree from Distinctly Desiree is another blogger that seems really in touch with her style in regard to her life as a mother and student. I don’t feel like she is playing dress-up for the camera.  She also posts pictures that show the simple pleasures in her life – her daughter, places she visits, and occasional goofs.
Danielle from Just My Style... is a great representation of dressing appropriately for your lifestyle while still being totally fashionable.  By the way, I'm totally jealous that she is able to find such cute Frye boots while thrifting in Alaska.  Come back Danielle, we miss you!!!

Have a great weekend friends!
