So Caught Up On You!

I got the biggest compliments ever today.  A coworker at the new job said "You are always so stylish at work. You kinda remind me of that girl, Carrie.  From that show in New York City. You're like our office Carrie!"  I said "Thank you, you don't realize how big a compliment that is!"  Then I went to the dentist office for my cleaning and my hygienist said "Where do you work where you get to dress so cute?"  I think I want to wear this outfit everyday!

Updated Look

You'll notice a few changes around The Clothed Commuter.  Hopefully they won't scare you away.

The header and the about me section are new and improved.  I figured since I'm no longer a commuting state worker, I should probably change things up a little.

May the Force Be With You

The Force is strong with this one!
I knew I wanted to wear my new jeans and wrap on Friday and I was excited to get up and put on these two items.  I'm not really sure about the combo.  While I was comfortable, and didn't feel like it was a terrible outfit, I don't really think it did much for my figure.

Lost... And Found!

I wasn't on top of my game last night when I deleted a bunch of photos.  While I was at work today I started thinking about these "lost" photos.  When I got home I looked in the trash bin and guess what?  They were in there!  I don't know why I didn't think of something that simple last night!

Que Serra Serra

"What?  You waited for me all of this time?  But how did you know I'd come back?"

"Que serra serra - whatever will be will be." This tends to be my outlook on shopping.  If I love it but the price isn't right, I'll come back a month later.  If I'm in a rush and don't have time to purchase the item, if it is there when i come back, then it is meant to be.

Back At It

I decided to take a few days off between my old job and my new job.  I had all of these grandiose ideas about how I would try to take pictures outside, update my blog, organize my closet, purge items that don't work any longer, and do all of my laundry.  Of that list, I did a few loads of laundry.  Where did the time go???  We had a production dinner at our house this weekend and much of my time off was spent cleaning and running around getting ready to have a bunch of people over.

So Long K Steet - A Tribute

Tuesday was my last day working downtown.  It was a little bittersweet.  I'm glad to not have to deal with the smells, the crazy people, the panhandlers, the loud urban youth, and so on and so forth.  There is a whole catalog of character you can run in to downtown and I was planning on doing a few posts to cover them all - it won't be nearly as relevant now that I have a new job (no where near downtown). In honor of my last day working downtown, I've put together a compilation of the sights of K Street.

Dessert First

One of the great things about being an adult is the option of eating your dessert first.  Tonight I met up with a bunch of my Cookie Lee girls for a night of dinner and shopping.  One of the girls mentioned that she loves to order dessert before dinner so guess what we did... we shared a dessert before dinner. And then we shared another one after dinner.  Take that mom! One of the gals there tonight was Mandy from The Bejeweled Babe. Swing by and say hi... she has a great sense of style and is a fabulous thrift shopper!  I'm serious, this girl has some serious thrift mojo.

The New Do

Here you go... the haircut.

Ch-Ch-Changes... Bring it on!

Oh, is the suspense of waiting for the haircut photo killing you?!?  So as not to get out of order, I'm posting Friday's outfit first.  This is what I wore to work and then to get my hair cut.

Friend Friday: Balance in Blogging

This week's Friend Friday topic is balance.  How do we as bloggers find balance between family, work, and other time commitments while still finding time to blog on a consistent basis. If you would like to see other bloggers answers, feel free to head over to Modly Chic... and once again, thank you Katy for putting together some very thoughtful questions.

I will reprioritize for this little monkey any day!
My super adorable niece, Brooklynn.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

This is by far, one of the most comfortable outfits I own. And it has pockets.  And it has so many wonderful colors!

EveryBody EveryWear - Polka Dots

Image 609
It is time for another installment of Everybody Everywear and this month's theme is polka dots.  This is a project created by Liz from 26 And Counting and Linda from The Auspicious Life as a way for style bloggers to show how a wardrobe staple can be worn in so many different ways.  Previous themes included the Blazer, Breton Stripes and gingham.

Bust A Move

What is the first thing you reach for when there are limitless options in front of you?  What do you yearn for after only have access to 30 items for a while?  Apparently the answer is jeans and a white t shirt and the most comfy sweater you own.  I know, not the most original.  And what do you do after you put on that outfit, you work on your stellar dance moves!

#29 & 30 - Get 'R' Done

Items 5, 13, 20, 30

Friend Friday (a little tardy) - Beauty Is In They Eye...

This week's Friend Friday topic deals with beauty products.  Feel free to head over to Modly Chic to check out other’s opinions on this topic.  I’m sure this round of questions will uncover numerous products that are unfamiliar to all of us.  I may be rushing to the nearest beauty counter to check out a few items myself!  And on with the show…

What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?

My first drug store favorite is Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara.  I used to use MAC mascara but the Lash Blast has taken that spot.  It wears well (dare I say, better than any other I’ve used) and the cost is usually less than half of what I used to pay for my MAC mascara.

My second favorite drug store product is Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Cocoa.  I suffer from really chapped lips in the winter and I find this product keeps my lips moisturized, I LOVE the color, and it feels great!

My favorite high end products are any of my MAC eye shadows.  I played water polo for a while in college
and I would be amazed to get out of the water and still have my MAC eye shadow on after and hour of practice.  The colors are so saturated, they go on easily, and are so beautiful.

Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without?
bareMinerals foundations - Bare Escentuals

My Bare Minerals foundation is my go-to product.  It is the only thing that takes away the redness in my face.  Even if I don’t want to do my eyes, I’ll still put on my Bare Minerals to even out my skin tone.

What's the best hair product you've ever used?

Aussome Volume - Aussie

I don’t know if it is the best I’ve ever used but Aussie Aussome Volume hairspray is great if you are trying to get some volume in a backcomb or an up-do.  Frequently I find that the less I spend on the hairspray, the better the hold.  I’ll keep using this until someone points me in the direction of something that smells great and does this good a job for me!

Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?

Glitter eye liner... I wore it a few times but got over it really quickly.  Getting a few flecks of glitter (for a few days straight) in your eye will turn you off super fast!

When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?

Back to the MAC eyeshadow again – I love the stuff!  There was a time in college where I would get at least one new eyeshadow each paycheck.  It isn’t that I do anything that outrageous; I think I just do a little more than most of my coworkers.  I’ve gotten compliments from a few friends so I must be doing something right… right?

I'd love to hear about your "go-to" or "can't live without" beauty items.  It is always great to hear about a new items on the recommendation of someone that loves the product!
