#22 - One Ouftit, Four Looks

Items 18, 24, 30
The outfit above is the one I wore out of the house on Saturday morning to go to the grocery store.  While I was there a lady in an interesting skirt ensemble passed me and said "Always nice to see another gal in a long skirt.  Not enough ladies wearing skirts!"  I said "Thanks," smiled and continued on to the frozen waffle section.  I always wonder what people's assumptions about me are just based on what I'm wearing that day?

I got back home from my little outing, took pictures, then wondered what the shirt/dress/boots combo would look like worn just a little differently.  So I've included some photos of different ways to change up this look.

Look 1 - Brown paisley sash tied in a square knot.  I didn't like the fact that I had no defined waist.
Look 2 - Shirt tied at the waist.  Much better for defining a waist line. Might look better with a large statement necklace.
Look 3 -  Big white woven belt.  I liked the contrast but not sure if it was too much contrast.  I might try this look during the summer with a pair of wedge sandals that have a white accent.
Look 4 - Two toned brown elastic belt.  The browns in the belt don't match the boots but I'm not so concerned about being matchy-matchy with browns.

With a few basic pieces in your wardrobe it is easy to change up the look with accessories.  The sash came with a pair of pants I purchased a few years ago and both of the belts cost less than $10 each.  For very little money I've been able to change the look of this outfit.  I would encourage you to take a look at some of your belts, scarves, sashes or larger statement necklaces and try them on with your basics.

What is your go-to accessory to change the look of an outfit?

  2. Jewelry! I love being able to take an outfit from casual to dressy to funky just by adding or changing jewelry. Cookie Lee is too tame for me so I hit up the clearance racks at Pier One and World Market. To support local business, Prevues in mid-town Sac has fantastic jewelry that is inexpensive.

  3. E- Bold pieces of jewerly are such a fantastic way to finish off an outfit. A few of my favorite pairs of earrings are from World Market, they have so many unique choices.
